But here's where it gets controversial... Simon Jordan has strongly defended Arne Slot. He believes Slot is not going to fail. Jordan pointed out that Slot has had a great first season, similar to Jurgen Klopp, who had a weaker second season after winning the Premier League.
In fact, Jordan argued against the idea that last year's title win was just luck, suggesting it was more down to Klopp than the Dutchman. Now, with the Alonso speculation, Jordan has doubled down on his support for Slot.
Jordan stated that Slot is not going to fail and that he is having a little bit of a sabbatical in his second season. He suggests giving Slot some time, just like Klopp was given.
And this is the part most people miss... Even among the writers, there's a split on Slot. However, encouraging patience is the key. Klopp's Premier League title win was followed by a weak campaign, but he was still adored.
Liverpool still have the Champions League to play for. Winning the Champions League is no easy feat, and this current Liverpool side wouldn’t stand a chance in the latter stages of the competition.
Consider last season's winners, PSG, who finished the league phase on 13 points and had to go through the play-off route. Liverpool sits on 12 points with two games to play, which they should win to secure a top eight spot.
