In a surprising move that has stirred up conversation among basketball fans, the Oklahoma City Thunder have traded Ousmane Dieng, a player they drafted with the 11th overall pick in 2022. This trade has sent shockwaves through the league, especially since Dieng had significant expectations placed upon him when he joined the team. Over the course of his four seasons with the Thunder, he participated in 136 games but struggled to secure a consistent role within the team's lineup.
The Thunder, who are the reigning champions, acquired veteran center Mason Plumlee from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Dieng. Interestingly, the Hornets plan to send Dieng to the Chicago Bulls as part of this deal, according to various reports.

On the other hand, Plumlee’s time with the Hornets has been less than stellar as well. After rejoining the team as a free agent in July 2025, he found himself playing limited minutes, averaging a career-low of just 1.6 points and 8.8 minutes across 14 games before undergoing groin surgery in December.
As part of this trade, the Thunder will also send a second-round pick in 2029 to Charlotte, adding another layer of complexity to this transaction.
